HPNE Gets Competitive for Halloween

Employees were encouraged to get engaged for Halloween by decorating spaces throughout our offices in teams with their best Halloween designs.

Origins of Halloween

The root of Halloween is in an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain that used to take place at the end of the summer. During the festival, people would dress in costume and light bonfires in hopes of warding off ghosts.

Later, during the eighth century, All Saints Day was declared by Pope Gregory III, and the night before was declared All Hallows Eve, which is when we now celebrate Halloween.

HPNE Cube Decorating Contest

To celebrate Halloween at HPNE, we decided to host a company wide decorating competition. Employees were encouraged to form small teams to decorate spaces throughout the office, which served two purposes: a fun, office-wide competition, and adding some holiday spirit to our work environment!

It has been found that workplace competitions can be beneficial in boosting morale, teamwork, and other professional skills. A competition like the one we held encourages employees to immerse themselves within the skills of teamwork, planning, problem solving, and communication.

Once spaces were decorated, all employees were encouraged to vote on their favorite space. To see picture of all of our submissions, visit our LinkedIn page!
