Expanding Our Product Portfolio

At High Purity New England, we pride ourselves on building a product portfolio that makes it possible to solve any of our customers' bioprocessing challenges. In order to stick to that mission, we continuously add to and evolve the solutions available to our customers. The past few months held the launch of our AdvantaPure® Tubing and Hose, SumoFlo Display CELE-8103-D, and our upgraded Stainless Steel Harvest Cart.

As we previously announced in June, we are thrilled to be partnering with AdvantaPure® as a distributor of their tubing and hose solutions. With a range of tube and hose material available including cured silicone, unreinforced silicone, TPE tubing, and more, the range is able to suit any of your bioprocessing needs. Our AdvantaPure® Tubing and Hose line has a variety of applications, which includes cell suspension, chromatography, colloidal solutions, peristaltic pumps, TFF, virus purification, and more.

Following that launch, we announced the newest addition to our products from Malema, a PSG brand, the SumoFlo® Display CELE-8103-D. By helping operators respond to and identify failures and process variations faster, the SumoFlo® Display helps users reduce wasted materials and time. The transmitter is available in a mounted display and tabletop version, and has a four line simultaneous display, allowing for the real-time monitoring of flow rate, totalized flow, density, and temperature.

Finally, and arguably our most exciting launch of the summer, was the announcement of our newly upgraded Stainless Steel Harvest Cart. Designed with smooth fluid drainage in mind, our upgraded Harvest Cart takes up minimal floor space while maximizing storage of your 2D bioprocessing bags. With shelves sloped at five degrees and notched outlet spaces, Harvest Cart makes draining your media & buffer simple and user-friendly. Custom models can also be designed to order. Start the conversation about getting your own Harvest Cart by reaching out to one of our experts at info@hp-ne.com, or by sending a message through our contact us page.

Exploring the World of Biotech

In addition to enhancing our product offerings, we at HPNE also believe that the best way to ensure we can consistently provide top tier service to our customers is to stay up-to-date with all biotech and biopharma trends and new technologies. In order to do so, #TeamHPNE attends various trade shows and events throughout the year. This summer alone, members of team HPNE attended three major trade shows across two countries, all while participating in other smaller industry events.

In July, some of our team members were able to attend the 2024 BPSA Single-Use Summit, which was held in Washington, D.C. High Purity New England has a long standing relationship with Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA), as both our previous CEO and our current Director of Sales have held positions on the Board of Directors.

The Summit provided an opportunity for our employees to attend relevant speaker sessions, network with other BPSA members, and overall expand their knowledge regarding the outlook of the single-use industry. For more information on the event and what our employees learned, visit our previous article “Our Major Takeaways from the 2024 BPSA Single-Use Summit”.

Across the pond in the United Kingdom, International Sales Manager Steve Bellanti attended the 18th ESACT Meeting in Edinburgh alongside our partners BPES. While working with our international partners and distributors, Steve is able to keep a pulse on global bioprocessing trends. This particular trade show had a strong focus on cell therapy industries, a rapidly evolving sector in biotech. Our article “What is Cell & Gene Therapy?” provides a deep dive into the definition of cell therapy, as well as current trends and future outlooks.

In addition to the United Kingdom, members of #TeamHPNE also traveled to Germany in June to attend the four day ACHEMA 2024 conference. Alongside our team members from Getinge, HPNE was able to share more about our innovative bioprocessing solutions with the global market, while also getting to visit booths from established and up-and-coming organizations in the biotech and biopharma spaces.

During this time, HPNE has also attended multiple smaller events, and has been a sponsor of other events, including regional ones like Triangle Biotech Tuesday (TBT), located in the Research Triangle Park region.

Noteable Organizational Shifts

As we are now a proud Getinge company, this summer has additionally brought about some important organizational changes. Most notably, in June we announced that our Founder and CEO, Mark Sitcoske, would be stepping down from the CEO position. Mark will be remaining at the company in a Consultant role, as explained in his departure letter, “Taking a Leap of Faith: Reflecting on My Time as CEO & Founder of HPNE”.

In his stead, we announced the appointment of Sean Herdlein to Managing Director. Sean, who started his Getinge career in 2002, previously served as the Managing Director of Applikon B.V.. Sean has been a great addition to the team, and we look forward to seeing what he continues to bring to the company.

Another major personnel update that occurred this summer was the promotion of tenured HPNE employee Jeremy Tripodi to the position of Director of Operations. Jeremy, who has been with HPNE for over a decade, previously held multiple roles in the company including Customer Service Representative, General Manager, and Chief of Staff. As a feature in our monthly seriesTake Ten with Team HPNE”, we were able to learn more about Jeremy on both a personal and professional level in July.

Additional Company Updates

Throughout the summer, there were also some smaller events and notable happenings at HPNE. We believe that a strong company culture is the foundation of an effective company, and are dedicated to providing opportunities to engage employees and boost community throughout our facilities. In addition to strategies like implementing our company ERG’s and providing opportunities to improve personal wellness, we like to hold some smaller events to show our appreciation for the hard work our employees do every day.

One event we were excited to hold this year was our Employee Appreciation Summer Cookout. Held in August, employees were able to participate in multiple lawn games including corn hole, horseshoes, and more while enjoying a catered spread at Twelve Acres in Smithfield. Additionally, in honor of National Ice Cream Day, we had an ice cream truck visit our facilities, providing a cool treat to help employees beat the summer heat.

We were also grateful to be able to have three interns with us throughout the summer. Our interns were incredibly hardworking, and provided new perspectives in their respective departments while gaining hands-on experience that should help propel them through their careers in the future. Thank you to our interns for your work ethic, contributions, and positive energy!
