Getting Involved
for Earth Day
HPNE employees participate in a litter cleanup in partnership with the Town of Smithfield Recycling to celebrate Earth Day.
In addition to reflecting on the ways #TeamHPNE has made our business model more environmentally responsible, we also wanted to donate some of our time to our community's efforts to keep our environment clean.
Connecting with the Town of Smithfield Recycling Coordinator, we were able to hold a cleanup local to Smithfield, RI, where multiple HPNE employees were able to participate.
On average, there is 268 million tons of waste produced in the United States annually. A study also found that on our roadways, an average of 6,729 pieces of litter can be found per mile.
Individual trash cleanups may seem small, but with many cleanup programs throughout the country such as Save the Bay and Keep America Beautiful, we are taking the proper steps towards cleaning our Earth. For example, the Hampton Clean City Commission (HCCC) reported that their cleanup efforts in a year alone resulted in the removal of 97 tons of trash.
We would like to thank our employees who took time out of their day to give back to the community and make their mark in the global trash cleanup effort.
