Team HPNE Attends the Annual ISPE-CaSA Tech Show
Learn more about the ISPE-CaSA Tech Show in North Carolina, as well as some of #TeamHPNE’s takeaways after attending the show again this year.
What is ISPE-CaSA?
One of the largest chapters within ISPE, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter (ISPE-CaSA) currently serves over 1,200 members across multiple industries, including life sciences, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. They boast multiple benefits to their members, including networking opportunities, career building, social connections, and knowledge sharing.
Their 2025 Annual Tech Show was their 32nd time hosting the event. It was held at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Along with the multitude of company booths that were present at the event, there was also a career fair, as well as keynote talks and panel discussions.
Our Team’s Takeaways
As we have discussed in previous articles, there has been a heavy, industry-wide interest in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). While talking with other attendees at the event, it was clear to our team that AI remains a relevant topic heading into 2025. One of the educational presentations of the day, titled “Transforming Life Sciences with AI: Balancing Regulation, Innovation, and Practical Use Cases” featured a panel that explored the opportunities and challenges presented by AI.
For more information on AI in biopharma, as well as the companies spearheading the adoption of the technology, visit our previous article “The Effect of Artificial Intelligence on Biopharma”.
While walking around the Tech Show, our team also noticed there have been many developments in solutions for the fill-finish process. Novo Nordisk presented on the topic of fill-finish during the educational presentations, and discussed their goals of achieving net-zero emissions throughout the process.
Fill-finish comes at the end of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process before getting treatments and therapies to market. To learn more about the technical aspects of fill-finish, visit our article “What is Fill-Finish?”, or explore our range of applicable products.
Overall, our team left the ISPE-CaSA trade show feeling optimistic for the future of biotech and biopharma, and are looking forward to seeing how technologies like AI, cell & gene therapy, and mRNA continue to change the landscape of our industries.
Benefits to Attending Industry Events
Your organization can reap a variety of benefits when attending industry trade shows and other events. One of the greatest advantages is that they provide a space to network with like-minded individuals. This creates an opportunity for brainstorming, and exposes your team to ideas and perspectives they may not have thought of otherwise.
In addition to idea generation, networking is critical as it can often result in lead generation. Although many people attend trade shows to learn more about the state of the industry, some attendees are decision-makers, who may be looking for new solutions to implement in their own company or processes.
Another benefit to attending these events is staying up-to-date on industry trends. The biotech and biopharma industries are constantly changing and evolving. Frequently attending tech shows and other events not only allows you to walk the booths and observe the advancements of the organizations present, but there are typically panels or other talks to provide insights into hot industry topics.
