This year, in honor of Women’s History Month, our Women of HPNE employee resource group partnered with the Sojourner House to host a spring cleaning supplies drive.

What is the Sojourner House?

Sojourner House is a nonprofit organization that offers support groups, emergency shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing, sexual health advocacy, and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and human trafficking.

Founded in 1976, they have grown to be able to provide comprehensive services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to victims of abuse. Since its founding, the organization has been able to serve over 60,000 individuals.

Our Spring Cleaning Supplies Drive

In addition to celebrating Women’s History Month, here in New England, we are also celebrating the early signs of spring! With this in mind, our Women of HPNE employee resource group (ERG) decided to host a cleaning supplies drive. This is not the first time HPNE has participated in this event, as we have held similar donation opportunities in previous years.

At HPNE, we recognize that our community is critical to the success and happiness of our employees, and our organization. That is why we try to form long-term relationships with organizations such as the Sojourner House, who are spearheading efforts to make our community safer. Other organizations HPNE has established relationships include Youth Pride and the local chapter of the Jewish Community Center (JCC).

The Women of HPNE group also worked alongside the company to wrap presents donated by employees that were to be given to Woonsocket Adopt-a-Family. Alongside community involvement initiatives, the group also works to provide networking & mentoring opportunities, as well as a safe place for similar-minded individuals to discuss shared experiences and challenges.

ERGs at HPNE and Getinge

Although the Women of HPNE is currently the only ERG located within our Smithfield facilities, our parent company, Getinge, has multiple employee resource groups that are available, either in person or virtually. Just a few of these groups include the North American Veterans ERG, and the Working Parents ERG.

As these groups see continued success, we look forward to expanding the groups available to our employees.

Other Ways to Celebrate Women's History Month

Although we chose this event for Women’s History Month this year, we have held multiple different events in years past for the same dedication. Visit some of our previous articles including “The Women of HPNE Group Celebrates Women’s History Month” and “International Women’s Day Luncheon at HPNE ” to learn more about our previous panelist events, and the formation of our first ERG, the Women of HPNE.
