Job Summary:

In this key role, the Senior Design Mechanical Engineer will work with clients and internal teams to design systems that
meet the client’s requirements. This position will demonstrate technical competency, deliver mission-critical
infrastructure, and ensure the highest quality and peak performance for HPNE products and services.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The responsibilities will include but not limited to:
▪ Consult with clients, design teams, sales and manager to determine application and requirements for requested
design or product
▪ Conduct research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical aspect of the
mechanical portion
▪ Create User Requirement Specification document to ensure all options are accounted for
▪ Consult with Electrical engineer to establish the electrical requirements and components to utilized in the design
▪ Plan and execute mechanical designs using Solidworks 3D CAD software
▪ Responsible for creating designs with manufacturability in mind
▪ Perform simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the designs
▪ Create part drawing packages for quotation using Solidworks 3D CAD software
▪ Create assembly drawings and bills of materials
▪ Review designs with peers and design reviews with customers for approval
▪ Manage project timelines, resources and budget
▪ Be the liaison with clients, vendors, sales and management to ensure coherence
▪ Responsible for reporting progress of all assigned tasks to the Engineering Manager and Project Management
▪ Work closely with engineering assembly team to ensure products are assembled correctly
▪ Keep abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends and best engineering practices
▪ Perform other projects and duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager for the overall benefit of the

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to write technical reports, operations manuals, and SOP documents
• Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer
• Proficient with Solidworks, certified is a plus
• Proficient in MS Office suite
• Strong electrical knowledge is preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and move around the facilities to include the lab/testing areas
• Must be able to use a variety of equipment to complete tasks
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
